I don’t want a chequerboard
Because
I believe in chance
That everything has a cause
But not everything has a meaning;
That no-one is to blame
And everyone is to blame
And sometimes
Some people are more to blame than others -
No, I don’t want racing stripes
Because
Most things that happen are meaningless
Until you create a meaning
And joy is often a matter of chance
And pain is often a matter of chance
And disasters are often a matter of chance
Not caused by black cats or ladders or abortions or nudity or gay people or women or God;
No, I don’t want a chequerboard
Because not everything has a meaning.
I want it to be random.
